Our commitment
The Healing Nobs is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability, technology, or assistive software. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing process rather than a one-time checklist.
What we've built in
- Keyboard navigation: all interactive elements (menus, dropdowns, buttons, search) are operable using a keyboard alone.
- Semantic HTML: we use proper heading hierarchy (h1 → h2 → h3), landmark regions (nav, main, footer), and meaningful link text on every page.
- Alt text and ARIA labels: icons that convey meaning have ARIA labels; decorative graphics are marked aria-hidden.
- Colour contrast: body text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios. Our brand colours have been tested against text backgrounds.
- Responsive layout: pages adapt to screen sizes from 320px upwards, with text scaling correctly when users zoom up to 200%.
- Form labels: form inputs (search, contact, calculators) are associated with visible labels. Error messages are descriptive.
- Skip links: users can bypass repeated navigation to reach main content quickly.
- No autoplay media: we do not use autoplaying video or audio anywhere on the site.
- Reduced-motion support: animations respect the user's
prefers-reduced-motion setting.
- Plain language: we deliberately avoid jargon and explain technical terms when first used. Our Glossary covers common health and nutrition terminology.
Known limitations
We strive for full accessibility but acknowledge a few areas under active improvement:
- Older PDFs: some of our older diet-chart PDFs may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We are gradually re-issuing them with proper tagging.
- Third-party content: embedded third-party widgets (advertising, analytics if added in future) may not match our accessibility standards. We monitor and replace where possible.
- Complex tables: some nutrition data tables are visually optimised; we are working to ensure all are equally usable with assistive technology.
Compatibility
We test our site with the following browsers and assistive technologies:
- Latest versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge
- iOS Safari and Android Chrome
- VoiceOver (macOS and iOS)
- NVDA and JAWS on Windows
- TalkBack on Android
