What connects these conditions

Low mood, anxiety, brain fog, fatigue, headaches and migraine are grouped here because they share overlapping causes — and because they are the symptoms most often dismissed as stress when something physical is driving them.

Thyroid problems, iron deficiency, B12 deficiency, sleep apnoea and blood sugar swings all produce symptoms indistinguishable from depression or anxiety. That is why getting tested matters before concluding it is purely psychological.

Where food genuinely connects

Being honest about limits

Diet supports mental health. It does not treat clinical depression, and food is not a substitute for therapy or medication where those are needed.

Anyone telling you that a supplement can replace antidepressants is selling something. Stopping prescribed medication because your diet improved is genuinely dangerous.

If you are struggling, talk to a doctor. Persistent low mood, loss of interest in things you used to enjoy, or thoughts of harming yourself are reasons to seek help now rather than to try dietary changes first. Support is available and these conditions respond to treatment.
This is information, not a diagnosis. These guides are written to help you understand what is happening and what to ask about. They do not replace seeing a doctor, and they are not a reason to stop or change any medication you have been prescribed.
